Version 1.19 is available (December 9, 2009)

Version 1.19 of the URL filter has 5 minor bugfixes and 1 major bugfix, and 8 enhancements.
The enhancements include new Swedish error messages, IPv6 addresses in URLs, SafeSearch support for more URLs, faster HTTPS site verification.

The bug fixes for ufdbGuard are:

• prevent crash for users of the API v 1.18
• prevent crash in API when empty table is used
• ufdbGenTable fails silently when the input files are generated on Windows/DOS
• creation of a new URL category failed in webmin GUI
• setting path parameters failed in webmin GUI
• SSL certificate verification may fail when websites use intermediate certificates
• ufdbhttpd does not interpret characters escaped with '%'

Version 1.18 is available (July 14, 2009)

Version 1.18 of the URL filter has 2 minor bugfixes and 1 major and 5 minor enhancements.

The major enhancement is the use of a new database format.  Version 1.18 supports both the old and new database formats and daily updates are downloaded in the new database format.  The main benefit of the new database format is a reduced number of memory allocations that ufdbGuard does and the effect of this depends much on the used platform.  The biggest increase in database load time is seen on Solaris with the libumem library.

The minor enhancements are:

• block proxies based on webtunnel
• bing.com, forestle.org, foozir.com, muuler.com, ripple.org, zombol.com, easysearch.org.uk and zoower.com are added to the list of SafeSearch search engines
• improved readability of the log file
• ufdbGenTable has a new option (-s) to apply sanity checks on URLs
• issue a warning when ufdbGenTable is required to run (i.e. domains is newer than domains.ufdb)

• The SafeSearch for Google images is fixed due to a changed URL of Google
• compliation of ufdbgclient is fixed on Solaris

Version 1.17 is available (April 22, 2009)

Version 1.17 of the URL filter has 2 minor bugfixes and 1 enhancement.
The enhancement is that yauba.co.in is added to the list of SafeSearch search engines.

The 2 minor fixes are:

• fix for a core dump which happened in case that multiple invalid URL tables existed
• a debug print statement introduced in version 1.16 caused excessive logging. The debug output is removed and the log file will be much smaller

Version 1.16 is available (March 16, 2009)

Version 1.16 of the URL filter has 2 minor bugfixes and 1 enhancement.
The enhancement is that blinkx.com and webpile.it are added to the list of SafeSearch search engines.

The 2 minor fixes are:

• ufdbguardd and API crashed on very old tables
• prevent double checks with HTTPS certificate checking

Version 1.15 is available (June 24, 2008)

Version 1.15 of the URL filter has 5 minor bugfixes and 13 enhancements.

The most important enhancements are:

• a GUI based on webmin is released to manage the configuration options
• ufdbhttpd supports a new and simple style: "simple-red"
• SafeSearch is implemented for an additional 6 search engines
• more URL obfuscations are detected
• installation procedure gives feedback where the system start script is installed
• performance of agressive HTTPS protocol checks is improved

A new URL category is made public. The category External Applications contains URLs of websites with web-based document editors, spreadsheets, groupware etc.  It is expected that all organisations who do not wish that internal documents travel on the internet will use this new category.
